Discussion 1. "Leadership through responsibility"

A leader should be… Leaders are constantly entangled with dogmatic believes about what they are supposed to be, what rules they should follow, what personality traits they should develop, and how they should interact with stakeholders. One of such “responsibilities” that is being increasingly emphasized is to be a responsible leader. What does the concept of responsible leadership entail and how do Ukrainian top managers understand it? Is it possible to be responsible to everyone and what is the cost of it for a leader? Where does this “responsibility” come from, who imposes it, and who is the leader ultimately accountable to? Let us look at the responsibility from different angles and find out what the other side hides.

Discussion 2. "Responsibility in business: Who is really responsible and for what"

In Ukraine, a classic business culture maintains a dominating position. It is a culture where the responsibility for business results is placed on a limited circle of business leaders – owners and top management – whereas other employees are mostly responsible for achieving narrower targets or only for performing linear tasks. At the same time, there is the opposite approach – a culture of individual leadership encompassing collective accountability and willingness to take responsibility for decisions and risks, even when it is not required by job description. Some believe that the digital revolution has paved the way for an effective combination of these paradigms, while others say that nothing has changed and it all depends on key people in business. What do company leaders think about this, and have they changed their views in recent years? What balance of responsibility have they found for their business and what management approaches do they choose? Where do they see their company in 5 years?

You need to live in the present, and not in the past or future – you need to take responsibility for your life. This is the only way to realize your full potential and achieve great things in life. Why is someone becoming a Forbes billionaire, an influential politician or a world star? What is their journey? What decisions do they take at critical moments? What risks do they take, what sacrifices do they go through and how do they regain strength? These are the questions we are going to ask them in a frank and straightforward manner.
